Gleaming
Glow, Lingering
The warm glow outlasting the light.
Yellow mandarin florally flickers bright on the surface, while palo santo and olibanum rise with incense smoke.
A sweetness gathers beneath the brightness, rich and golden, as cardamom and myrrh pull aromatics through the heart. Warm and honeyed, apricot and dried fruit deepen into a sweetness of slow decay as the glow softens. The light, further smoothed by butter.
Below, wool and castoreum root the warmth into the skin, animalic and lactonic, the lingering trace of the body's heat. Labdanum and a creamy sandalwood gather the embers, soft and resinous, the smoke now weighted by agarwood and sticky immortelle. An amber-oud settling into itself. As warmth becomes the only trace of light, it slows the body into its own intimate glow.
The Light Behind the Scent
Gleaming light is a concentrated flash that appears when illumination meets a smooth surface. Unlike diffuse reflection, where light scatters in many directions, a gleam emerges through specular reflection: light waves striking polished materials — metal, glass, stone, water — and returning in a focused line. These fleeting highlights shape how we perceive texture, polish, and depth. Research suggests bright light intensifies emotion: the brain perceives it as warmth, amplifying what we already feel emotionally. Gleaming light does not linger, but its quality is what we remember longest.
